aeolian shift 02

$5,800.00

featured in my solo show at BMOCA, this drawing is rendered in black acrylic on a flat, medium gray ground. the drawing traverses 2 separate, custom panels designed to be displayed touching, with the top panel feeling as if it is falling or sliding into the lower panel as seen in the images.
The top section is rendered in a series of .5’’ lines marked at a rate of 1 mark every .5 seconds (.5’’) I became obsessed with the idea that the way we note time in seconds with [ “ ] is exactly the same as the way we note distance in inches [ “ ] meaning that in written or typed expressions time and space are indistinguishable from one another without context — I love the poetry of this and began employing it as part of the systems I use to create my drawings. The bottom section has been built using a series of punctuated continuous lines where the small bundles are equivalent in duration to the spaces between them— playing with the idea that while the temporal measurements may be the same what happens in those small, equivalent durations is not consistent or ever the same.

This drawing require 43’’ H x 54’’ W of wall space to be installed. (2’’ deep)

this drawing will ship in an oversized custom padded box/crate please select shipping over 48’’ ($100) at checkout
